The white bison or buffalo are extremely rare, many Native American cultures have referenced them for certain ceremonies or gatherings. In our culture, we where taught by our grandparents that the white buffalo is a very sacred and spiritual animal. It is rare and should be respected and cherished. The Buffalo Stone we are referring to today also is just as rare. The Buffalo Stone we use is also referred to as White Turquoise or as White Buffalo, not to be confused with Howlite (which is normally dyed or painted). White Turquoise is actually not turquoise, but is found in some turquoise mines which is where it received it's name. The color of the stone ranges from snow white to a milky color and often has brown or black veins running through it. We named this Buffalo Stone collection because of it's purity and beauty just as rare as the white bison.

FIRST, WE MARK HOW WE WOULD LIKE THE CABOCHON TO LOOK. SOMETIMES WE USE TEMPLATES LIKE THE ONE HERE, OR WE FREE-HAND THE DESIGN WE WANT THE CABOCHON TO HAVE.
WE THEN USE A ROCK SAW, TO CUT THE SLAB INTO SMALLER PEICES
THE CABOCHON MACHINE IS NEXT. WITH THIS MACHINE WE ARE ABLE TO MAKE THE CABOCHON INTO THE EXACT DESIGN WE WANT. ALONG WITH GETTING IT POLISHED AND READY FOR BACKING.
WE PUT A BACKING ONTO SOME OF OUR STONES, INCLUDING THE BUFFALO STONE. THIS GIVES THIS SOFTER STONE SOME SUPPORT AND MAKES IT MORE STABLE FOR MOUNTING. |
FROM HERE, WE ARE ABLE TO BEZEL THE STONE AND MOUNT IT ONTO WHATEVER SETTING WE LIKE!
